Brisbane Relief Centre

The Brisbane Relief Hub can support you if you are in financial stress, lacking basic necessities, homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

 Overview

The Brisbane Relief Hub provides a range of services to help you at times of need. These include:

  • A drop-in service for help with food and medical script subsidies
  • Community Meal – free lunch on Sundays (1pm - 1:45pm) and most of the main public holidays (1pm - 1:45pm) and dinner on Monday nights from 6:00pm - 7:15pm and Wednesday nights from 6:30pm - 7:30pm.
  • Casework support (clients must undergo an intensive interview by appointment)
  • Individual counselling and support (clients must participate in sessions by appointment).

 

The Brisbane Relief Hub also offers a range of activities and groups, including:

  • Social and lifestyle groups including BBQs, cooking classes, exercise classes, vintage events and morning teas
  • Therapeutic groups including expressive art, craft, meditation and singing
  • Educational groups about budgeting, wellbeing, mental health and first aid.

Drop-in service

This service can offer:

  • A daily snack pack
  • Up to 10 free food hampers per financial year
  • $40 medical script subsidy per financial year.

No appointment is necessary, but to be eligible for the service you must provide proof of low income (health care card or pension card; or a bank statement or payslip; or a refugee card or other proof of low income) and proof of identity, such as a photo ID or two forms of non-photo ID.
