Dr Ian Airey has had a long involvement with Wesley Mission Queensland as a member of the  Albert Street Uniting Church and is Chair of the Wesley Mission Queensland Council.

As a member of the UnitingCare Queensland Board for nine years, Ian has a strong knowledge of aged care and hospital and community service activities. Ian is Patron of Wesley Mission Queensland’s art program,  Art from the Margins (AFTM) (link opens in new window).

He has been involved with AFTM since its inception and is passionate about helping people who are disadvantaged find transformative expression through art.

Ian retired from a career in anaesthesia and intensive care in April 2020. His last appointment was as Director of Acute Care Services at Mater Health, Brisbane. Ian is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Ian enjoys being part of Wesley Mission Queensland because he feels that the Mission is a practical demonstration of Christianity.
